Broken

Broken - Kelly Elliott Overall 3.5. Enjoyed this a lot but there's a couple of things that drove me crazy.

1. The leading couple were way too gushy. Meaning that in the dialogue sequences Layton and Whitley spent most of their time saying "I love you or I love you so much."
2. Another issue with the dialogue between all of the characters is the use of 'Oh my God, God, and Jesus' in every sentence. This makes the author seem very limited and unfortunately I started to skim over the repetitive portions.

Now, to the what made the book a good read.

1. It was full of angsty characters. I really like when the main characters are in some degree of hate for one another before they finally get together. Also, it is always good when there is a third wheel who just doesn't get that their relationship with the main character(s) is over. In this case both Layton and Whitley have ex's who didn't want to let go. Unfortunately, when it came to Olivia (Layton's ex) there isn't any closure about what happened with her.

2. The secondary characters draw the reader's interest as well. Courtney and Reed bickering back and forth was just as interesting as what was happening with the main characters. There is a 'love triangle' here as well.

3. There is a happy ending.
